What Are AI Interviews and How Do They Work?
AI interviews provide unbiased interview questions and guide interviewers to create structured, standardized interview experiences. Pillar uses interview intelligence software to help HR managers and recruiters offer a fair interview process for skill-based hiring decisions. Here is how an AI interview works:
AI Interview Guide
With AI interview software, you can generate an interview guide focused on the skills you are recruiting for. These allow you to create interview questions for the interviewers, making sure that they ask the same set of questions to each applicant. This helps prevent potential bias with questions and allows you to compare candidates fairly. With Pillar, you can generate an interview guide in less than five minutes by simply entering the job description. You can also search our library of questions or create your own.
Live Interview Guidance
During the interview, the AI software provides live guidance and feedback to the interviewer. Our interview copilot allows interviewers to have the program open on their video call window, allowing them to reference the interview guide easily. The software will suggest follow-up questions based on interviewee answers to help keep interviewers on-topic.
Our AI interviewing software provides interviewers with scorecards, allowing them to score candidates and take notes during the interview. These scorecards allow interviewers to rank potential employees according to different skills, such as leadership, creativity, and time management. Recruiters can also note if they recommend that the candidate move forward in the process. Our candidate comparison page allows HR managers to compare scorecards of multiple candidates side-by-side after interviews.
The interview copilot also records and transcribes the interview and automatically generates a summary. This feature is available in multiple languages. The summary may be viewed in outline, write-up, and question-and-answer format. Interview recordings and summaries allow interviewers to review sections of the interview, allowing them to provide more accurate and detailed feedback about candidates rather than relying on memory. Video clips of significant moments in the interview are also automatically generated. Recruiters are able to forward these clips to an HR manager for early feedback about a candidate.
Automatic Coaching
AI provides automatic, impartial coaching for interviewers. In our interview insights center, Pillar flags biased language, irrelevant questions, and underlying assumptions from the interview as coachable moments. The software then generates suggestions for the interviewer for improvement, such as recommending that the interviewer focus on the candidate’s skills. The interview insights center also provides data about how well the interviewer followed the guide and interviewer versus interviewee talk time.
Schedule a Demo With Pillar
Our software can analyze candidate sentiment and scoring trends to note any large scoring deviations for potential bias. Pillar integrates with your calendar and applicant tracking system. This allows invites to be automatically synched and interviewer feedback to be sent to your ATS. Candidates do not need to create an account for the interview process. If you have additional questions about how to conduct an AI interview with Pillar, we invite you to take a product tour or request a demo.
