Top 5 CEO Blog Posts of 2024
AI. Bias. Gender Differences In Interview Data.
As I reflect on 2024, these topics stood out as big themes in my blog posts and areas that captured your attention. This isn’t the first time I’ve done a year-end review—last year, when I launched my blog, I decided to dive into what resonated most with you, and it feels fitting to make this a tradition.
As someone passionate about data, I find it fascinating to analyze what content our readers connected with the most. Looking back at the metrics, the subjects that sparked conversations in 2023 continued to hold significant relevance and interest in 2024.
So let’s get into it—here are the top 5 blog posts of 2024 based on what you found most compelling (click the title of the blog to read the full post)…
5.) Behind The Scenes: Key Findings From 50K Recent Interviews
Every day, Pillar enables our customers to conduct hundreds of interviews, offering a unique lens into a process that has long been a "black box." Since our inception, I’ve been captivated by the insights revealed through recording live interviews—insights that weren’t previously accessible. In this post, we explored key findings that illuminate the interview process: the prevalence of coaching opportunities for interviewers, what topics candidates enjoy (and dislike) discussing, and other valuable lessons that can improve hiring outcomes.
4.) What Lies Ahead For AI In 2024?
These days, it’s almost impossible to have a conversation without AI making its way into the discussion. Earlier this year, I shared my top five predictions for how AI would shape 2024—both within talent acquisition and beyond. One key takeaway from those reflections, which remains as relevant now as ever, is that while AI has immense potential to tackle complex challenges, it’s not a universal fix for every problem we face. Looking ahead to 2025, this same theme will take center stage and I’ll dive deeper into it in the new year. Stay tuned!
3.) AI Deployment Essentials: 5 Key Factors To Consider
Another blog about AI—are we even surprised? Around mid-year, we had a surge in questions from TA leaders about how to effectively deploy AI in the workplace. This concern has remained front and center ever since. In this post, I shared practical advice on the five key considerations and the critical questions you should ask when implementing AI tools in your organization.
In the first half of the year we encountered many conversations with teams simply saying they "wanted AI." Here’s the thing: you don’t just “want AI.” You want to solve specific problems, and AI might be able to solve them better than before. Hopefully this post offers a framework on how to think about leveraging AI in the new year and beyond.
2.) One In Four Interviews Are Biased
25% of interviews are biased. That’s alarming, isn’t it? We know this because our AI analyzes interviews and detects potential bias from interviewers. As soon as I saw this stat, I knew we needed to dig in further to understand the most common areas of bias, how often they occur, and offer advice on how to stamp out biased interviews. In reality, bias is inescapable, but by keeping the habits laid out in this post in mind (or by using Pillar’s AI to flag instances), it can be greatly reduced.
1.) Follow-Up: Analyzing Gender Differences In Interview Data
It’s no surprise that this post claimed the top spot! Following the overwhelming response to last year’s blog on gender differences in interview data, we knew a follow-up was essential. A year later, we revisited the data to see if the fascinating patterns we uncovered had shifted—and added new insights as our analysis expanded across even more interviews.
Are women still being asked more questions than men? Do they continue to feel uncomfortable discussing compensation? When men interview men, is small talk still skewed toward sports? This post dives into these questions and reveals where progress has been made—and where work remains.
We’re incredibly proud of the strides we’ve made in helping hiring teams recognize and address inherent gender differences in interviews. And it’s exciting to see evidence of improvement as organizations take steps toward a more equitable hiring process.
